About the KIPP Teacher Resource Guide

Teacher Resource Guide

The Teacher Resource Guide (TRG) provides instructional support for the KIPP teachers.

It includes skill instruction (“reading/thinking steps”) for Common Core reading standards, language skill mini-lessons for Common Core language standards , and instructional routines and practices. It also includes a compendium of teaching tools and resources, including a glossary of literary terms, writing rubrics, and text-specific extension and engagement activities.

KIPP Wheatley

KIPP teachers can use the TRG to support the KIPP Wheatley curriculum (KW), which is a comprehensive literacy curriculum for grades K-8 used by 50,000 students nationwide. It is designed to help students meet Common Core State Standards for reading, writing, and language. KIPP Wheatley includes 36 modules—four for each grade. Each module includes 32 to 36 lessons and four formal assessments. Each lesson includes 90 minutes of reading and writing instruction for grades 1-8 and 75 minutes of reading and writing instruction for kindergarten.
